The Polish FA have announced that Adam Nawalka’s contract will not be extended after the national team’s early exit from the World Cup.
Poland were in a relatively easily group with Japan, Senegal and Colombia, but losses to the Teranga Lions and Los Cafetaros made them the first European nation to exit the tournament and a consolation win over Japan was not enough for them to avoid last place in their group. Nawalka’s contract will be till July 30.
Nawalka took over as manager in November 2013 and under him, the Poles reached the quarterfinals of the European Championships for the first time in their history before losing on penalties to eventual winners Portugal. They also qualified comfortably for the World Cup, topping a group that also included Denmark, Montenegro and Romania.
