Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have announced that they have parted ways with manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. The 50 year old Austrian had a contract with the club till 2019, but was keen on an extension, something the Leipzig board weren’t keen on giving.
Under Hasenhuttl, Leipzig secured an amazing second place finish behind Bayern Munich in the 2016/17 season. It got them a spot in the group stages of the Champions League, where they failed to make it to the round of 16 and dropped into the Europa League, where they beat Napoli and Zenit before losing to Marseille in the last eight.
Domestically, the 2017/18 season was a bit of a disappointment for Leipzig as they finished a lowly sixth, only good enough for a spot in the qualifying stages of the Europa League.
